Loop records rebranding

Art direction and design by Lauren McCarthy

Intro

Loop is a record shop that was recently purchased by 2 people who are trying to revampt it and bring it to life. They really wanted to make this local business thrive even if its original owners couldn't. They wanted a new logo and a business card to go with it, as well as shopping bags, and a vehicle. The name Loop in itself already has a nice kick to it and just a memorable aspect to it which I can really utilize in this picture.

Project

I need this record store to be marketed towards older people who still have a feel for records and vinyls, but also for the younger audience who’s just started to discover them for the first time.

I definitely needed to keep the young and punchy vibe from the name, which is why I started right away looking at very circular typefaces. That way I could keep a fun and young aspect to it, and use its color palette to get that kick. Loop is made up of 2 lines and 3 circles so I knew I had to turn one of the circles into a record in some way.

Process

Once I had the illustration done, I started exploring color palettes using greens and pinks, but landed on turquoise which is not often seen. This could help the shop's sign stand out easily on a dense street.

Outcome

The outcome of this project was successful. We came up with a bold logo that is both colorful and fun but is reasonable and works well. The record can easily be taken from the logo and placed on merchandise and applications
